Formed in 2010 in London, England, the four-piece band is comprised of lead vocalist Dan Smith, keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist/ guitarist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood. They’ve released three full length albums including their debut, Bad Blood, which included the hit single “Pompeii.” The platinum certified single has racked up over one billion streams on Spotify and over 660 million views on Youtube. Their 2016 album, Wild World, was named Best Album by NME and was gold certified in the UK. In 2019, they released Doom Days, which reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Possibly their most notable single, “Happier,” written and produced by Marshmello, was released in 2018. The multi-platinum single currently holds the record for most weeks spent at number one on the US Dance/Electronic Songs chart, with 69 weeks as of January 2020. It has 1.5 billion Spotify streams and over a billion Youtube views.
Now, Bastille are gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album and 2022 tour namesake, Give Me The Future. The album, which drops February 4th, is a tribute to tech times and a glimpse of what could be to come. Exploring both the opportunities of new technology and the dark side of lives lived online, it’s as playful as it is thought-provoking, as dystopian as it is dancefloor-friendly and as electronic as Bastille have ever been.
