Yes, it’s insanity; but it’s the fun kind of insanity, right?
We’re talking about KidsFest, that one day a year in which we turn Caras Park over to its rightful owners: The young and the young at heart.
Sponsored by Missoula Parks and Recreation, this free summer celebration serves several purposes. First and foremost, it’s a chance for kids to get away from the TV, get outside and enjoy an afternoon of free playtime and activities with other kids. This ranges from bubble toys to basketball to live music – even an animal education and demonstration from the fine folks over at Animal Wonders.
KidsFest is also a chance for some of our best community organizations to show off a little bit of what they do: Music performances from the kiddos at Childbloom Guitar, or martial arts demonstrations, for example.
But while fun and games is the main attraction, KidsFest is also a chance for parents to get acquainted with some of the great service providers in Missoula. With stations set up under the pavilion and around the park, this is an opportunity to explore kid-friendly classes and programs and pick up important information on issues that impact entire families, like dental health, energy efficiency, social service options, etc.
This year’s event will include free lunch from the Missoula Food Bank (while supplies last), and fresh fruit from Missoula Fresh Market PLUS the first 1,000 kids to show up will get a chance to decorate a cool bag filled with goodies from the more than 30 different participating organizations!
Aubrey will be representing the 104.5 the U table at this year’s festival, so be sure to stop by and say hello, enjoy some free coloring activities and pick up fun station schwag. Sunglasses anyone?
We’ll also be giving away free coupons for Wendy’s frosties, carousel tokens AND you’ll have a chance to register for a $25 gift card from the Sweets Barn!
So grab your sunscreen and get ready for a day of fun at Kids Fest 2018 – that’s Tuesday, July 24, 10:30 am to 2:30 pm in Caras Park. See ya there!
