It’s Homecoming Week!
Fall is my favorite season and I’ve been look forward to Homecoming year after year. The week of Homecoming is packed full of great activities, on and off campus. But the Homecoming Parade by far is my favorite activity and the best and most attended parade in Missoula. I can remember watching the parade as young as 3. Of course the candy was always the highlight for any child, that and the warm cookies and cocoa handed out at the Garden City Church. In high school, my sisters played their clarinets and I marched with my cheer squad (Big Sky). As an adult, I participated in several radio station floats and skated with the Hellgate Rollergirls and watched my kids each take turns being a part of this great tradition. As alum of The University of Montana, I take this week very seriously (wink, wink). So, join me as I will once again join the ranks of parade marchers this Saturday as U 104.5 will hit Higgins Ave. This year’s theme is A Tradition of Champions.

Wednesday, Sept. 23
6 p.m. — Lady Griz volleyball; Montana vs. Weber State, West Auxiliary Gym
9-11 p.m. — Women’s Night at the Wall; Fitness & Recreation Center
Thursday, Sept. 24
9 a.m.-6 p.m. — Homecoming Art Festival, University Center Atrium
10 a.m.-2 p.m. — Grizzly Green Market, Mansfield Mall; Open to the public
5 p.m. — Homecoming Buffet Dinner, Food Zoo in the Lommasson Center; Open to the public, Cost is $8.44 per person
7:30 p.m. — Miranda Lambert concert, Adams Center; Tickets available at www.griztix.com
Friday, Sept. 25
9 a.m.-6 p.m. — Homecoming Art Festival, University Center Atrium
1 p.m. — Hello Walk painting, sidewalk in front of Turner Hall
8 p.m. — Yell Night Pep Rally on the Oval and lighting of the M
7 p.m.-12 a.m. — All-Alumni Social and Dance with UM Marching Band, Holiday Inn Downtown at the Park
Saturday, Sept. 26
9:45 a.m. — 8th annual Homecoming Hustle 5K Race, start at Higgins and Broadway
10 a.m. — UM Homecoming Parade, along Higgins and University avenues
1:30 p.m. — Homecoming Football Game: Montana Grizzlies vs. Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
